The top officials of the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) have renewed their commitment to help safeguard the province from criminality and security threats.

On January 23, 2023, DOPPO officials, headed by Police Colonel Francis Donald Brillante, assured Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon that they would beef up efforts to tackle crimes and improve programs supporting peace and order.

This is in response to the Governor’s appeal to the police force to help address pressing concerns involving law and order.

Among them is the reported resurgence of the drug problem in the province. She stressed the urgent need to address the alarming drug problem which destroys many lives and communities.

Governor Malanyaon also pointed out concerns about illegal logging, mining, and other illegal activities that must be stopped. “We must ensure that law and order prevail in our respective LGUs,” the Governor stressed.

Meanwhile, Governor Malanyaon lauded the police force for their contributions to peace and order, particularly for institutionalizing the Revitalized Police sa Barangay (RPSB), which massively helped the military clear Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) from the insurgency problem.

Governor Malanyaon hopes that the peace and order achieved by the province will be maintained, especially since investment opportunities are starting to come into the province and the upcoming launching of the province’s grand tourism campaign.

“The challenge for the police organization is huge, considering that we are now an insurgency-free province. The next thing we have to look into is sustaining the peace that we have so far achieved,” said Governor Malanyaon.
