“Davao Region, more than ever, is now ready to welcome all visitors and investors,” declares Davao Oriental Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, who has just been appointed to her new role as the Chairperson of the Regional Development Council XI.

No less than President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., who appointed her for the role along with its challenging mandates, led this afternoon’s historic declaration of the Davao Region as insurgency-free and re-launching of Davao Region as investment and tourism-ready held at the Eastern Mindanao Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines Headquarters, Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan in Davao City.

President Marcos congratulated all key players in the region, particularly the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Local Government Units, and the government agencies for their concerted efforts in helping achieve this milestone of being insurgency-free which now opens the door to new opportunities in business and investments.

While Davao Region has been the country’s consistent, top-performing regional economy, it was not spared by economic setbacks brought by the decades-long insurgency and the pandemic.

With the declaration of Davao Region as insurgency-free and being on the road to recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic, Governor Malanyaon said it is indeed an opportune time to re-launch the region as a tourism and investment-ready destination. This considering the regionโ€™s rich resources and the current favorable investment climate being set through sound policies and strategic plans to entice more investors to come and locate in the region.

She said, “investments in Davao Region will primarily focus on our economic growth drivers for fast recovery and sustained progress for our people.”

As the new RDC Chair, Governor Malanyaon assured the President of the Davao Region’s commitment to supporting the national government “through a stronger collaboration of all sectors, sustained local governance under a strong and effective political leadership for economic recovery and sustainable progress for all.”

Prior to the declaration program, President Marcos, Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio, Governor Malanyaon, along with Department of National Defense Secretary Gen. Jose Faustino, Jr., and other top brass officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other government agencies, joined the historic groundbreaking of the Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project held earlier this morning.
