Board Member Michelle Malanyaon-Centeno, the latest addition to Davao Oriental’s Sangguniang Panalalawigan, has been formally sworn into office today, February 12, 2024, at the Provincial Capitol.

Presiding over the ceremony was none other than Governor Niño Uy, emphasizing the gravity of the event and the solemn commitment inherent in assuming public office.

The simple yet significant oath-taking ceremony marked a pivotal juncture in Davao Oriental’s political landscape. Michelle Malanyaon-Centeno, the daughter of the late Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, stepped into her new role following her official appointment by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. last month through the law of succession.

Governor Uy extended a warm welcome to BM Centeno, expressing his sincere wishes for her success in her new capacity. He emphasized the anticipation surrounding her contributions to the province, especially in the wake of recent calamities that have tested the resilience of Davao Oriental. As the province aims to rebuild and progress, BM Centeno is expected to emerge as a pivotal figure, leveraging her experience and insights to drive development initiatives forward.

The appointment of Michelle Malanyaon-Centeno signifies not only a continuation of her family’s legacy of public service but also a fresh chapter in the province’s journey towards prosperity and resilience. With Governor Uy’s leadership and BM Centeno’s dedication, Davao Oriental stands poised to overcome challenges and embrace a future marked by growth and stability.

Participating in the ceremony alongside BM Centeno are his father Luis Malanyaon, spouse GP Centeno, Cateel Mayor Emilou Nuñez, and fellow Board Members Nenette Palmera and Stephen Paul ‘Popong Uy’, along with various friends and relatives.
