DAVAO ORIENTAL— Barangay Tagabakid in the City of Mati and Barangay Don Chicote in the Municipality of Governor Generoso are the latest barangays to have received a Multi-Purpose Building cum Command Center from the provincial government of Davao Oriental.

In a separate turn-over ceremonies held on February 6 and 8, respectively, the village chief of the two recipient barangays warmly welcomed the fully-finished buildings turned over by no less than Governor Nelson Dayanghirang.

Costing P 3 million each funded through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines, the “earthquake-resistant” buildings were turned over equipped with office chairs, tables, air conditioners, and ceiling fans as the Governor intends to spare the barangays from the burden of shelling out funds for office furniture.

Also included in the project are the spacious office of the barangay chief, secretary, and treasurer, as well as pantry, toilet and bath, porch, and landscaping.

“This is a clear expression of sincere love and concern of our leaders to the welfare and well-being of our barangay, people and community. We like to assure you that we will be taking care of this building for the betterment of Barangay Tagabakid,” said village chief Elizabeth Munda in her message of acceptance.

OIC Provincial Engineer Ruel Dumadag said there will be additional works to be facilitated by their office as Gov. Dayanghirang allocated an additional P1 million funding for the expansion of the building’s session hall.
