Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy Jr. met with the team of Mr. Donny Yeung, an investor for a mega solar power farm project to be established in Brgy. Maputi, Banaybanay. The meeting on Monday, July 10, 2023 hopes to continue the discussion on the project’s development, which is expected to aid in resolving Davao Oriental’s escalating energy concern.

Governor Uy, eager to address the province’s rising energy shortage issue through the usage of renewable energy and carrying on the work that the late Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon initiated, underscored the need to get the project started as soon as possible. Following the meeting, the governor gave a directive to speed up the project’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) development after thorough deliberation and to recognize the critical need for this initiative for the benefit of the people of Davao Oriental.

The Provincial Government is hoping to draw more potential tourism, agricultural, and industry-based investments with a more reliable, efficient, and reasonably-priced power supply, which will support and boost the local economy. The locals who have recently been weeping in frustration and disappointment over the frequent power outages will also benefit from a consistent power supply for their everyday needs.

The massive solar farm project is poised to hold and supply up to 50 megawatts of power and provide a stable and cheaper power source to the growing province. ʙʏ ꜰʀᴀɴᴄɪꜱ ᴊᴀʏ ʙᴜᴛᴜʟᴀɴ | ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏꜱ ʙʏ ꜰʀᴀɴᴢ ᴀʟʙᴏ
