BDAVAO ORIENTAL—Barangay Batobato in the town of San Isidro, which currently run their Local Government affairs in a building within the village’s public school, will get a new Barangay Hall following the groundbreaking ceremony in a new site on January 16.

The construction project is part of the massive infrastructure program of the provincial government, costing P3 Million funded through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

Aside from its complete amenities, Engineer Ruel Dumadag, Officer in Charge of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), said that the barangay hall was designed to withstand 8.0 magnitude quakes. He added that the multipurpose building will also serve as a command center during disasters. It has a total area of 108 square meters with a total floor area of 96 square meters.

Punong Barangay Nador Galagar thanked the provincial government for addressing the immediate need of the barangay, saying that it will help them better serve the public once the building is completed. According to the PEO, the project will be finished within 150 calendar days.

“I am extremely happy and grateful to Governor Dayanghirang for expediting the construction of our Barangay Hall. For many years, Barangay Batobato, as an economic center of San Isidro, has no Barangay Hall and a site on its own. Governor Dayanghirang promised this to us last year and now it is finally happening,” he said, sharing his excitement as the construction is set to start next week.

Stressing his desire to provide all the needs of the public, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, who graced the groundbreaking ceremony, likewise committed to provide a covered court for the barangay next year.

“There is already an existing fund for your covered court, all it needs is for it to undergo public bidding,” Governor Dayanghirang said.

On the part of the municipal government, Mayor Justina MB. Yu said that she has already promised the Punong Barangay to help “whatever the Municipal Government can do in developing the site”.

“We will do our best to provide what might be lacking in building a beautiful barangay site and barangay hall. I congratulate our barangay captain and all in helping realizing this dream of barangay Batobato,”Mayor Yu said.
