1,200 Villagers to Benefit from P2.5 million Water System, Multi-Purpose Building in Tarragona Town

DAVAO ORIENTAL – The provincial government of Davao Oriental turned over a newly completed Potable Water System to the villagers of Barangay Lucatan in the Municipality of Tarragona, Davao Oriental.

With a project cost of P2.5 million funded under the provincial government’s Local Government Development Fund (LGDF), the Potable Water System is set to benefit around 1,200 households in the village.

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang, who initiated the project, led the turn-over to the barangay officials which was held in time for the celebration of the 55th Araw ng Barangay Lucatan on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

The Governor said he is delighted to present the PWS as a gift to the residents for their celebration as he understands the importance of sufficient and clean water supply as a basic necessity for all.

Works included in the PWS project are:

(1) Repair of Intake Box and RC Reservoir, Installation of Transmission and Distribution Pipelines at Sitio Mabiga; (2) Installation of Submersible Pump, Installation of Transmission Pipelines, Construction of RC Elevated Reservoir and Installation of Distribution Pipelines in Purok Centro; and (3) Installation of Submersible Pump, Installation of Transmission Pipelines, Construction of RC Elevated Reservoir and Installation of Distribution Pipelines.

The villagers expressed their gratitude to the provincial government for “precious” project as it has given respite to their community which endured many years without having a readily available source of water. Punong Barangay Rey B. Tambuco expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for its constant support for the people of Barangay Lucatan.

Governor Dayanghirang said that the provincial government has consistently pushed for programs and projects for the benefit of its constituents. He emphasized that in order to fully realize this goal is the cooperation of all stakeholders, especially the local leaders.

The Governor said he is glad that all local officials share the same goal and aspirations for the province. Multi-purpose Building Aside from the new water system, the residents of Barangay Lucatan now have a new multi-purpose building courtesy of the Office of the First District Representative.

First District Representative Congresswoman Corazon Malanyaon, who was also present during the ceremony, led the turn-over and ribbon cutting of the newly constructed project. More than just a physical infrastructure, she said the project hopes to provide the residents of Barangay Lucatan a venue to converge and hold events that will unite them even more as a barangay.

Also present in the activity is Tarragona Municipal Mayor Nestor L. Uy. During the activity, he took the chance to encourage everyone to get vaccinated in order to help the municipality achieve its target herd immunity and keep everyone safe from COVID-19.

Also gracing the activity were Vice-Governor Nino Sotero L. Uy, Incumbent Board Member Nelson R. Dayanghirang, Jr. and Board Member Marietta D. Palmera with Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) aspirants Anna Cheryl D. Castro, Andy A. Monday and other municipal and barangay officials. By Mark Alvite
