MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL – Bent on providing resilient and decent housing for all, the provincial government led the launching of the Land Development of Mandaya Muslim Bisaya Homeowners Association Incorporated (MMBHOAI) Phase 1,2,3 and 4 took place at Sitio Magay, Brgy. Don Martin Marundan, yesterday, September 14.

Led by Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, the launching ceremony signals the start of the soon-to-be-constructed housing project. With a budget of almost P48 million, the land development covers an area of 135,110 square meters which will be home to 800 homeowners allotted with around 100 square meters for each lot.

The housing project is under the Social Housing Finance Corporation Community Mortgage Program (SHFC – CMP) which aims to provide support and access to decent, safe, and affordable housing units in sustainable communities.

According to Engr. Anselmo Curambao, SHFC Representative, the housing project is one of the manifestations that the provincial government is one with the national government in organizing projects that are in line with the mandate of the Duterte administration’s flagship program Building Adequate, Livable, Affordable, and Inclusive (BALAI) Filipino communities.

“In keeping President Duterte’s directive under the country’s development goals, we want our Mandaya, Muslim and Bisaya brothers and sisters in Davao Oriental, regardless of their social status, to have decent shelter complete with electricity and water supply, a house that they can call their own and can be proud of,” Engr. Curambao added.

Engr. Curambao cited the huge contribution of the provincial government in the effective implementation of housing plans.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Provincial Housing Office continued their work “so that the creation of the MMBHOAI would be brought into purpose.”

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang said it is his dream to see every single Davao Oriental resident to live in a comfortable and safe place they can call home.

To hasten the progress of the project, the Governor advised the Provincial Housing Office to work on the documents so that the construction of houses can be started as soon as the land development is completed.

Also came to witness in the ceremony were Board Member Enrico Antopuesto, Provincial Agriculturist Rotchie M. Ravelo, Barangay Captain of Don Martin Marundan Claro Miranda, Former Board Member and concurrent Technical Consultant Daud Linsag, association members, among others. By Shaye N.
