In the face of the challenges that define these trying times, Davao Oriental Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr., during the 2023 Provincial Commemoration and Celebration of Bonifacio Day on November 30 at the Bonifacio Shrine, Capitol Grounds, shared a powerful message of unity and collective action, calling on to every Oriental Dabawenyo to reflect into the profound lessons that Bonifacio’s life and works offer.

Acknowledging the deep teachings rooted in Andres Bonifacio’s heroism, the governor implored everyone to ponder on the inspiration and significance of Bonifacio’s legacy which still holds relevance even up to this present contemporary time.
“As a province, we must rise above our differences and unite for the common good of our people. We must share a collective vision for the progress and prosperity of our most cherished province,” emphasized Governor Uy.

Governor Uy urged putting aside individual differences for the benefit of the greater good, highlighting the need to take inspiration from Bonifacio’s unshakable devotion to a shared vision.

“I continue to reiterate my call for us to enjoin a shared vision for a stronger province. Let us, as one Davao Oriental, partake in a vision for the future – a future that echoes Bonifacio’s dreams of hope, progress, and inclusive growth. And continue to launch collaborative efforts, built on active participation and cooperation, to propel our province toward greatness,” he stressed.

This year’s Bonifacio Day celebration revolves around the theme “Bonifacio 2023: Duty and Responsibility toward the Nation’s Progress” which underscores a steadfast commitment to commemorating Bonifacio’s invaluable contributions to society and and emphasizes the collective responsibility of all citizens towards nation-building. The celebration was well attended by officials, staff, and employees from local government units, national agencies, and the private sector.
