“I ask no loyalty to myself from anyone of you. What I demand is loyalty and love for your work.” These were the words emphasized by the newly installed Governor Niño Sotero Uy, Jr. during the first flag ceremony and convocation that marked the beginning of his new administration.

During the ceremonies at the Provincial Capitol, Gov. Uy implored the employees, department heads, and agencies present to support and uphold the legacy of the late Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon. He praised her for providing exceptional service, showing compassion, and displaying dedication to the people of Davao Oriental.

“Time is of the essence. We cannot afford to lose focus of the current momentum that we are experiencing and we are enjoying. Thus, in the interest of the greatest welfare of the greatest majority, we must continue to complement and sustain and even enhance further the development direction of the past administration,” he said.

Governor Uy appealed to all members of the provincial government to unite in their efforts towards public service and strive towards the development of the province.

Gov. Uy has been in public service for 28 years and has served in various positions starting as Sangguniang Kabataan official to being a municipal and city councilor, board member, and Vice Governor. He is committed to making the Provincial Capitol, under the leadership of the Provincial Governor’s Office, a safe haven for every Oriental Dabawenyo regardless of their social status, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation. “Everyone is welcome at the Capitol’” he stressed.

At the ceremonies, Governor Uy introduced the individuals who will assist him in fulfilling his responsibilities. These personalities were mostly retained from the previous administration of Gov. Malanyaon.
