In an inspiring display of unity and compassion, the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, the City of Mati, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Provincial Training Center-Davao Oriental—through the Municipal Housing and Relocation Office of Mati and Pastor Ruben Colmo, Jr., who serves as Moral Recovery Program-Action Officer—came together to provide much-needed housing assistance to deserving families. The activity was held at Ramon Antonio Village, Bilawan, Central, City of Mati, on June 11, 2024.

The collaborative effort culminated in the turnover of five newly built homes to five families, marking a significant step toward rebuilding lives and communities after recent hardships.

During the turnover ceremony, Governor Niño Uy expressed his unwavering commitment to helping those in need and fostering hope and resilience in the community.

“I am happy to be part of this program. I thank the Lord because He is the one who made all this possible. I hope this partnership continues so we can help even more families, especially those affected by weather disturbances in our province. Hopefully, with God’s grace and blessings, more will be helped and our services can be extended. There is still a lot to be done,” said Governor Uy.

During the event, Governor Uy did not hesitate to offer immediate support by providing cash assistance, aiming to help build two more homes for two additional families. Pastor Colmo received the cash donation to proceed with the construction.

This inspiring initiative—the construction and turnover of five housing units in Ramon Antonio Village—was made possible through the dedication of TESDA volunteers, led by TESDA Provincial Director Richard Amparo. Their diligence, skill, and commitment to community service shone brightly, embodying the spirit of bayanihan and highlighting the transformative impact of collective action and cooperation.

Governor Uy also extended his gratitude to Pastor Ruben Colmo for his leadership in the Pabayanihan program, which provides support to families affected by flooding and other natural disasters. Through this heartfelt initiative, over 155 houses have already been built, bringing hope and stability to those in crisis across Davao Oriental.

The Governor emphasized his joy and belief that with unity and cooperation, assistance from the Provincial Government can be delivered more swiftly and to more people. Through the Bayanihan program, the government’s efforts go beyond housing—it includes support in employment, medical services, agriculture, veterinary care, legal aid, and other government services throughout Davao Oriental.
