How to Reach Davao Oriental

There are two (2) entry points to Davao Oriental. One is via the Province of Compostela Valley route where you set foot first at the Municipality of Banaybanay and the other is the Surigao-Davao route where you glimpse first the Municipality of Cateel. Both junctions are accessible by land transport system.

Davao Oriental is reachable from Manila and Cebu City by taking any of the daily scheduled airline flights thru the Davao International Airport or take the regularly scheduled vessels that sail the Manila-Davao sea route. Unfortunately, there is no direct passenger vessel sailing from Manila or Cebu to Davao Oriental and vice versa. However, cargo vessels often berth at Mati City port., embarking cargoes/minerals from the province.

The provincial capital and considered as the seat of government & hub of trade and industry development is the City of Mati, the 3rd metropolis from Banaybanay, the entry point to the Province. Mati City is accessible by either a 25-minute chartered plane from Davao City, a 3-hour van transport ride; a 2.5-hour private car ride and /or a 5-hour public utility bus ride. Roads to the Province are fully concreted with a little asphalted portion along the Surigao-Cateel road network.

Using Davao City as the transit point, the province is readily accessible to the markets of the BIMP-EAGA particularly North Sulawesi 9Indonesia), Sabah and Sarawak (Malaysia), Brunei Darussalam as well as Singapore.
