Gov Malanyaon Bent to Resolve Peace and Order Condition in Davao Oriental

Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon is determined to resolve the peace and order condition of the province while sustaining the gains of the peace and development sector as her administration is bent on eradicating poverty and gearing up to intensify tourism development and promotion.

During the security briefing held on July 7 at the Provincial Capitol, she discussed with the top officials of the Philippine Army her administration’s thrusts which will focus on anti-poverty programs, livelihood projects, and interventions in agriculture and basic infrastructure to combat the insurgency problem.

She said her programs will be concentrated on areas that need government interventions, particularly those in the hinterlands. She also underscored the need to include the community stakeholders in all government programs that will make them feel involved in the shared goal of peace.

701st Brigade Commander Brigadier General Oliver Maquiling presented to the Governor the current peace and order situation in the province and the developments and milestones as far as peace and order in the province are concerned.

He reported that the enemy forces, including manpower and firearms, are continuously dwindling. He also discussed the developments of the province’s localized implementation of the Task Force ELCAC (Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict).

Governor Malanyaon vowed that her administration would intensify the peace and development efforts through sound government programs. To do so, she anticipates the support and active participation of the military as she also committed her all-out support to the security sector. The Governor committed that she would ensure that all local chief executives in the municipalities and city would also extend support to the military, enabling them to execute their mission effectively.

Also present during the security briefing are the 10th Infantry Divison Commander, Major General Nolasco Mempin and Major General Reuben Basiaon (Ret.). Joining them are Battalion Commanders Lt. Col.
