Music, Prayer, and Praises: DavOr Celebrates Conclusion of Honest, Orderly, and Peaceful Elections 2022

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL — Hundreds of youths and local church leaders have recently gathered in a thanksgiving event to offer prayers of thanks to the Almighty for the honest, orderly, and peaceful elections and show support to the elected officials in the 2022 polls through music and prayer.

Initiated by the Lighthouse Church Mati in partnership with the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, the program was participated by local church bands who jammed with the concert-goers singing songs of worship last Friday night, May 27, at the Baywalk Amphitheater here in the City of Mati.

During the thanksgiving prayer and concert, the pastors from the different churches joined hands.  They offered their prayer of blessings and guidance for the chosen leaders to bring progress and development to the city, the province, and the country.

Aside from offering prayers of thanks to the Almighty, the platform also served as an avenue to warn the youth against recruitment and deception of activist groups that agitate the public, especially the youth, to go against the government

Pastors urged the public to support the government and discourage them from paying attention to protests that questioned the national election results.  Spreading this message is also part of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict’s (PTF-ELCAC’s) Strategic Communications Cluster, which aims to prevent Communist recruitment that takes advantage of the people’s vulnerability.

Pastor Ruben Colmo of the Lighthouse Church Mati said that the celebration was a showcase of unity which involved the participation of everybody to give time to thank the Lord and show support to the officials who were commanded by God to serve the people.

Among the local churches who participated and made the event possible were: The Lighthouse Church Mati, Matiao Baptist Church, Mati Baptist Church, Jehovah Jireh Baptist Church, Banaybanay Baptist Church, First Mati Presbyterian Church, and The Lighthouse Church Davao.
