Gov Salutes 48th Guardians Battalion at Send-off Ceremony

Recognizing their efforts in helping make Davao Oriental an insurgency-free province, Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon honored the 48th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, during the unit’s send-off ceremony on Monday, March 20.

Davao Oriental is bidding farewell to the 48th IB, which will be redeployed to its new Area of Operation under the 1002 Brigade in Southern Bukidnon.

Governor Malanyaon and government officials and military officers thanked the men and women of the 48th IB for their support and efforts in safeguarding the peace and protecting the people of Davao Oriental from security threats.

701st Brigade Commander Brigadier General Oliver Maquiling awarded a Plaque of Recognition to the Battalion and presented Military Merit Medals to distinguished troops.

48th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Gilbert Gomez thanked all the peace and order stakeholders in the province for their partnership and support, which made the unit’s campaigns successful.
