Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon led the 2022 Davao Oriental Provincial Commemoration and Celebration of Bonifacio Day at the Bonifacio Shrine, Capitol Grounds, City of Mati on the 30th of November 2022. This year marks the 159th birth anniversary of the unsung hero known as the “Father of the Philippine Revolution” and the Supremo of the Katipunan who led the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule.
Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon conveyed her appreciation to everyone who took part in the celebration, “especially to the Masons present in the event who count Andres Bonifacio among their illustrious brothers in the Philippine revolutionary movement”.
She hopes that the Filipino people will be able to honor and respect his legacy now and more in the years to come, not only by upholding his image but also by giving back to the community selflessly for the benefit of others and by taking part in activities that demonstrate our love for the people and for the nation.
“Today, not only us in the Province of Davao Oriental but other people throughout the country as well, are gathered to remember, to honor, and to pay gratitude to him. Our gathering is just a small spark in the flame of pride that burns across the nation today. It may not be a lot, but it is one small way we can honor Gat Andres Bonifacio and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in freedom,” the Governor said.
Present during the ceremony who offered wreaths to Bonifacio’s shrine are the Legislative Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, the Legislative Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the Local Government of the City of Mati and Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat, Freemasons of Davao Oriental and the department heads, staff and employees from various Provincial Offices and National Government Agencies.
