DAVAO ORIENTAL—Two more villages in the province now have new Barangay Hall following the turn-over ceremony of the Multi-Purpose Building cum Command Center in barangays located in Banaybanay and San Isidro towns.
On August 29, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang led the turn-over of the new fully-furnished and fully-functional Multi-Purpose building to Barangay Pintatagan in the municipality of Banaybanay.
Amounting to P 3 million bankrolled through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines, the multi-purpose building is equipped with furniture, offices, pantry, porch, PWD ramp, paintings, and landscaping.
The said building, designed to withstand earthquakes and typhoons, stood in a 4.6-hectare site which was also turned-over to the barangay. Governor Dayanghirang said the barangay site comprises 1.6 hectare while the remaining 3 hectares is intended for Provincial Government’s resettlement program which he committed to provide to the villagers.
Aside from the housing program, he also committed to put up a water system for the beneficiaries of the housing project and a covered court within the barangay site.
“Since we will put up next the housing project, it is important to also put up a water system. There is already a water system going here but the distribution lines are not sufficient for the whole neighborhood. So, we will allocate funding for your water system here which will be constructed next year. Also, we will construct a covered court here by next year,” he said.
Pintatagan Punong Barangay Joel Peralta thanked Governor Dayanghirang for the newly-completed Multi-Purpose Building and all projects he promised to provide. He especially mentioned the “governor’s generosity” for granting his request to build the new barangay hall in a new site as their old barangay hall was built near the shoreline.
“Now we are assured that everyone who works and comes here at the barangay hall is safe. Thank you Governor Dayanghirang for pouring out your all-out support to our barangay in terms of our needs in infrastructure projects,” Peralta said.
On the following day, Governor Dayanghirang also led the turn-over of the new Multi-Purpose Building cum Command Center in Barangay Batobato, Municipality of San Isidro. Also complete with furnishings, the structure which also amounts to P3 Million was also funded through DBP loan proceeds.
San Isidro Municipal Councilor Joel Mamac, who represented Mayor Justina Yu, thanked Governor Dayanghirang for their new Barangay Hall which was also constructed in a new site.
“For 75 years, finally, Barangay Batobato now has its own Barangay Hall and Barangay site,” he said, referring to their previous Barangay Hall which was built within a public school’s site.
Batobato Punong Barangay Nador Galagar received the certificate of turn-over. He expressed how happy he is for the new building which was turned-over in time for their barangay’s 11th Founding Anniversary. He said they “can now serve the public with ease now that we have our new barangay hall, complete with all amenities”. Photos by Eden Jhan Licayan
