DAVAO ORIENTAL— Barangay Macangao and Limbahan in the Municipality of Lupon are the recent villages to receive new Barangay Hall from the Provincial Government following a series of turn-over ceremonies on September 20, 2019.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang led the turn-over of the Multipurpose Building cum Command Center which costs P3 Million each, bankrolled through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

While the building is complete with furniture and amenities, Governor Dayanghirang said that he will allocate another P1 million funding for the construction of the building’s bigger session hall.

“I want the barangay officials and the Sangguniang Barangay to serve the public with ease. That is why we will allocate an additional P1 million to fund the expansion of your Barangay Hall. So, we will start the construction next year of the more spacious session hall,” Governor Dayanghirang said.

Gov. Dayanghirang said that to accommodate more visitors, the session hall of the newly turned-over building will be used by the Punong Barangay as his new office once the expansion is completed.

“As of now, I am hoping that you will take good care of your barangay hall. May you continue to provide better public service to the people in your barangay,” he added.

Town Mayor Erlinda Lim, in her message, thanked the governor for his “unrelenting support for the municipality.”

“We really thank you Governor for the many support you have given us, especially on infrastructure development. There are many barangays in Lupon who are recipient of the construction of the new barangay hall. We hope that this partnership and support will continue in the coming years,” said Mayor Lim.

The Punong Barangay of the two villages, Erwin Barabag of Macangao and Clemente Gera Jr. of Limbahan, have also expressed their thanks to the Governor.

“Thank you, Sir. We promise to maintain it so that more people of Barangay Macangao will be able to use this,” said Barangay Chairman Barabag.

“I am very grateful that you did not hesitate to give us a new barangay hall. Finally, there is a new building here in our barangay during my term,” Barangay Chairman Gera said. Photos by Eden Jhan Licayan
