DAVAO ORIENTAL—Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang has led the turn-over of the new Multipurpose Building in Barangay Taguibo, City of Mati on September 30, 2019.

Already fully-furnished, the said building costs P3 million funded through loan proceeds from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

In his speech, Governor Dayanghirang stressed that the multi-purpose building will withstand strong winds and quakes, as it is also intended to be used as Command Center during disasters.

“It doesn’t matter if the cost is higher, what is important is that it can serve as a command center in times of calamity. That is the design of all buildings in the province,” he said, referring to the projects under his administration’s infrastructure development priority which also includes barangay market, covered court, and health center.

He also committed to allocate another budget for the expansion of the building’s session hall.

“But for now, I am expecting you to take care of this project so that all residents can benefit from it. I also hope that this new barangay hall becomes the symbol of the unity of the residents as well as the barangay officials,” the governor added.

Also included in the project is the aesthetic landscaping, which Taguibo Punong Barangay Rico Mabawad is most thankful for. He said that they get attention from passersby due to the building’s structural design and landscaping.

“We are located in the highway so this really gets the attention of the tourists who pass here. Thank you, Gov, for this project and for the other projects and assistance you have extended to us. We wish you more fruitful years of serving the province. We, in the barangay, will always support all of your programs,” PB Mabawad said.

Also congratulating the barangay for the new infrastructure project is Vice Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy Jr. and some of the board members of the first district of the province. In his speech, he expressed his support to the provincial leadership in terms of legislation related to the implementation of priority projects of the governor.

“There is harmony between the legislative and the executive bodies so we can easily implement projects for the development of the province. So, through this structure, we can render the best service to the villagers who come here. This is where you settle the concerns of your constituents before going to the higher offices. So, congratulations to all of you,” Vice Governor Uy said. By Riza M. Golez
