Recognizing information as a critical element in community development, the provincial government of Davao Oriental initiated a training that bid to equip information officers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to effectively manage and communicate information to the public.
On May 4-5, information officers from the Local Government Units, national agencies, and provincial offices participated in a two-day Basic News Writing, Reporting, and Photography Training Cum Reorganization for Information Officers and Information Links held on at the Oriental Prince Hotel.
Facilitated by the Davao Oriental Provincial Information Office, the workshop aimed to strengthen information dissemination down to the grassroots level.
Aside from the skills enhancement, the activity also became a venue to elect a new set of Davao Oriental Information Officers, who took their oath thereafter. The oath-taking was administered by Provincial Administrator Ma. Gracia Tiago who represented Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon. The newly elected officers are the following:

Present during the activity was Philippine Information Agency XI’s Information Center Manager Michael Uy who shared his knowledge on comprehensive strategies in News Writing and Data Gathering along with the speakers who covered Photography, Mobile Photography and News Reporting for Radio.
After the workshop, the respective IOs will be tapped for coordination and other information drive for relevant news, events, and other updates in their respective areas. By Mark Oliver Alvite
