DAVAO ORIENTAL—Recognizing the Catholic media’s strong contribution to the province’s development through information dissemination and advocacy campaigns, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang awarded a Plaque of Appreciation to the community television network and radio station—the Trinity Cable Television (TCTV) and the DXHM Heart of Mary Station.

No less than Bishop Emeritus Patricio Alo and the newly installed Bishop of the Diocese of Mati, Most Reverend Abel Apigo, received the plaques in an awarding ceremony held this morning, October 22, during the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Capitol Covered Court.

Governor Dayanghirang thanked them for not only using your network and their influence in providing family and community-oriented media programs but also aiding the province’s information dissemination programs such as the Kapihan sang Kapitolyo.

“The Provincial Government recognizes the TCTV and the DXHM as strong partners for the province’s development through relentless and balanced information dissemination,” the plaque reads.

In his message, Governor Dayanghirang extended his salutation to both local networks.

“The impact of what you are doing have not been recognized as you chose to remain silent. But today, it is time to salute you as we recognize your outstanding contributions to our communities. With your shining example, may you continue to inspire us to even more improve our performance as a public servant in uplifting the lives of our people by helping us to create a peaceful, resilient, and prosperous community in the province,” the governor said.

Despite being a Catholic media network originally established for evangelization, Bishop Apigo emphasized that the mutual “love for the people” is what drives the partnership between the government and the broadcasting networks. He further expressed in his speech his support for the provincial government’s development programs.

“As you recognize the great contribution of our mass media both TV and that of the radio stations, the Diocese of Mati is also greatly happy and appreciative of what you are doing. Primarily our social communications are intended for evangelization. But now with the partnership of our province it’s not only the spiritual side that are given to our people but also the basic services that our province is offering to our people. As I said during my installation, here at the Diocese of Mati, we and the Governor and other officials are serving the same people. We are embracing the needs of same people here in the Diocese of Mati, the province of Davao Oriental. And this participation, our solidarity are the best way of manifesting our deep love for the people,” Bishop Apigo said.

Bishop Emeritus Alo likewise delivered his speech of thanks and appreciation to the provincial government’s efforts.
