DAVAO ORIENTAL—Job order employees here are set to enjoy social security protection following the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Provincial Government and the Social Security System (SSS) on December 20 at the Capitol Grand Conference Room.
Set to be implemented this year under the Kaltas-Collect program of the SSS, job order employees of the province “whose membership is not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and with no SSS-registered employer, and also the regular employees, who have signified their intention to participate in the Program,” are entitled to enroll to the program, as stated in the MOA.
“The monthly contribution of the members will be deducted from the corresponding monthly salary but shall not exceed the maximum salary credit under the contribution schedule of the SSS,” the MOA further stated.
To join the program, applicants must submit their Self-Employed Data Record (SSS Form E-1), Authenticated copy of Birth Certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate issued by the Local Civil Registry (LCR).
Imelda Guerra, Branch Head of SSS-Mati, thanked the provincial government for accepting the program which targets to cater almost 2,000 job order employees of the provincial government.
“Thank you in behalf of the SSS for coming up with a MOA signing. We hope that this program will successfully cover around 1,800 job order employees in the provincial government. For now we have only covered around 200 to 300 but we will be sitting down in your lobby to inform others how to sign up, especially those who weren’t given SSS number yet,” Guerra said.
SSS Acting Vice President for South Mindanao I Division Rizalito Alberto De Leon, also expressed his thanks to the provincial government and furthered that he hopes for “this partnership to last throughout the years.”
In behalf of Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, Board Member Anacleto Macatabog, representing the governor, said that the program will be very beneficial to job order employees in time of emergencies and that the provincial government will continue to look for ways to better provide social security to its workforce.
“It is an opportunity for everyone to provide an avenue for better service to our employees. It is the least that we can help them in terms of security. This means a lot for them especially to those minimum wage earners that at least there’s a semblance of security in their employment,” Macatabog said.
