On December 5, 2022, the Provincial Information Office (PIO) of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato visited its counterpart in the Province of Davao Oriental to benchmark its processes, operations, and organizational workforce.

As a recently established functional department, the team from the “Land of the Dreamweavers,” led by Mr. Rudy S. Jimenea, Provincial Information Officer of South Cotabato, was keen to learn and pick up the best practices of the PIO-Davao Oriental.

Although already a well-established and organized office, the team of Mr. Jimenea stated that they had scouted a number of PIOs from other parts of Mindanao to use as benchmarks and pick up their best practices which might be useful to their operation.

Among all LGUs in Mindanao, they disclosed that they decided PIO-Davao Oriental as a benchmark because of its strong online presence through consistent releases on the government website and the high social media engagements, particularly on Facebook.

For his part, Mr. Jimenea shared with PIO Davao Oriental their experiences and best practices, as well as offered tips to help Davao Oriental improve its organization, particularly in terms of creating a department that would help strengthen its workforce.

“We hope that this will be a fruitful visit for us to exchange ideas and showcase what we can learn from each other to improve our crafts in providing better service to the people,” Mr. Jimenea expressed during a discussion with Ms. Karen Lou Deloso, Provincial Information Officer of Davao Oriental.

After a productive discussion, PIO- Davao Oriental gave a short city tour to their South Cotabato guests where they visited the Subangan Museum, Mati City’s Guang-Guang Mangrove Nature Reserve Park, and Menzi Beach Park in Dahican in coordination with the City of Mati Tourism Office.

The team also took the time to observe the Monday convocation and fellowship at the Capitol, which is part of the provincial government’s Moral Recovery Program.

Mr. Jimenea and his team conveyed their heartfelt thanks to Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon for extending the Oriental Dabawenyos warmth and excellent brand of hospitality. ʙʏ ꜰʀᴀɴᴄɪꜱ ᴍᴏʏᴏᴋᴏ ʙᴜᴛᴜʟᴀɴ | ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏꜱ ʙʏ ᴍᴀʀᴋ ᴏʟɪᴠᴇʀ ᴀʟᴠɪᴛᴇ
