Cash Aid for Fire Victims of Baganga

The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has delivered cash assistance on Monday to families whose houses were gutted by fire in Barangay Central in the coastal town of Baganga in January this year.

Through the government’s Emergency Shelter Assistance program, a total of P65,000 in cash assistance was distributed to the families of fire victims, six of whom called “house-owners” recieved P10,000 each as their houses were being totally destroyed, while “house-sharers” received P5,000 each during a simple ceremony inside the Mayor’s Office of Baganga.

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang led the distribution of financial assistance as he gave an additional amount of P35,000 or P5,000 each in cash assistance to the fire victims.

The provincial government has also sought the assistance of Senator Bong Go who is set to extend P5,000 in financial assistance to the fire victims.

In addition, the Local Government Unit of Baganga is also set to distribute P10,000 to every household who lost their homes. The LGU has also referred the victims to the National Housing Authority (NHA) for the Housing Assistance Programs for Calamity Victims. Report by Mark Oliver Alvite
