DAVAO ORIENTAL – For his leadership’s strong advocacy and invaluable support to the development of Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and other TESDA programs which significantly uplifted the lives of many Davao Oriental constituents, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang has been hailed as one of this year’s national Kabalikat Awardees.
Governor Dayanghirang received the award from the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) during the virtual 2021 Kabalikat and Idols ng TESDA Awarding Ceremony on August 24 which was held in time for the agency’s 27th anniversary with the theme “TESDA @27: Pagbangon at Pag-abantsa Beinte Siete.”
Governor Dayanghirang has been hailed as one of the 27 national Kabalikat awardees in the country and the only one in the Davao region under the Local Government Partner Category.
Based on the citation, the Governor received the said accolade owing to his programs, particularly those related to peace and order that complemented and enhanced the services of TESDA.
His programs like the Nagkakaisang Lingkod-Bayan ng Davao Oriental Barangay Outreach Caravan (NLD-BOC) have helped reach out to more clienteles especially in the far-flung communities who are the primary targets to benefit from the TVET to attain necessary skills for livelihood and other opportunities.
The province of Davao Oriental has also given priority to the most vulnerable sectors of the society in line with Executive Order No. 70 or the Whole-of-Nation Approach in ending insurgency.
Governor Dayanghirang expressed his gratitude to the TESDA “not only for recognizing and boosting the morale of Davao Oriental workers who are truly behind these accomplishments but also in serving the province’s poor constituents who are in need of programs offered by the TESDA.”
“I sincerely thank TESDA, particularly its Davao Oriental office, for the continued partnership for the benefit of our people. Moving forward, this partnership and collaboration will be even more strengthened and preserved as we aim to achieve greater heights in serving our people,” Governor Dayanghirang said.
Meanwhile, awardees from other categories were also presented during the virtual ceremony aiming to give honor to outstanding partners for their contribution and participation in the implementation and promotion of TVET in their respective sector. Of the 27 awardees – 12 are from the Local Government Partner Category, 10 are Industry Partners, 4 are from the Legislative Partner, Development Partner and NGA Partner Category, and one for the special awards.
The Kabalikat Award is one of the primary reward mechanisms of TESDA that gives due recognition and honor to outstanding partners in virtue of their contribution in the promotion and development of the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The awarding, as stated in TESDA Circular No. 007-2021, also aims to “encourage active participation from various sectors in the development and employment of Filipino workforce; showcase the efficiency and effectiveness of public-private partnership in delivering TESDA programs and services; and demonstrate sectoral good practices and sense of corporate social responsibility thru various TVET programs.” By Mark Alvite
