P27 million-worth Soft Projects to Benefit 12 Barangays in San Isidro Town

DAVAO ORIENTAL – A total of P27 million intended for social services for indigent residents in twelve barangays in the municipality of San Isidro has been transferred from the provincial government to the municipal government following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Wednesday, July 28.

The said amount is part of the P260 million allotted budget to the 13 insurgency-cleared barangays in San Isidro who are recipient of the Local Government Support Fund – Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Under the program, each of the 13 barangays is entitled to receive P20 million-worth of projects. Out of the thirteen barangays, twelve are covered under the MOA.

The P27 million allotted funding is intended for soft projects or social services such as medical assistance, burial assistance, cash for work, educational assistance, livelihood and skill training, food supply assistance, transportation and fuel assistance, among others, to qualified indigents or families of the recipient barangays.

The MOA signed between the provincial government and LGU San Isidro is a requirement for the transfer, disbursement, accounting, and reporting in order to fast track the release and distribution of the fund for its appropriate allocation.

Mayor Justina B. Yu expressed her delight and enthusiasm as the said MOA signing will be “the start of a more significant partnership between the province and the LGU to help improve socioeconomic conditions through prioritizing peace security in every barangay.”

Thanking the Governor, Mayor Yu added, “Let us help each other see through and respond to the needs of our people.”

As the Chairman of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, Governor Nelson Dayanghirang said that the fund appropriation is one of the many efforts of the province to achieve inclusive and sustainable peace by prioritizing and harmonizing the delivery of basic and social services to insurgency-infested communities.

The MOA between the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental and LGU San Isidro was signed on July 28 at the Provincial Capitol’s Grand Conference Hall between Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang and San Isidro Mayor Justina B. Yu.

The witnesses include PTF-ELCAC Vice-Chairman and Focal Person Mr. Ednar Dayanghirang, the Municipal Accountant, and the Barangay Captains of the 12 recipient-barangays identified as Batobato, Talisay, Sudlon, San Roque, San Miguel, Maputi, Maag, Lapulapu, Iba, Dugmanon, Baon, and Cambaleon.
