Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon met with the Provincial Engineer’s Office team on Monday to discuss the updates and progress of the Oplan Karsada program.
As of September 23, 2022, the Oplan Karsada has completed 15.37 percent of the 552.997 kilometers of provincial roads across the province.
The teams working on this massive road rehabilitation have been operating round the clock since their deployment in August. The operators hope to complete the road repair and rehabilitation before the rainy season arrives.
While the Oplan Karsada primarily caters to provincial roads, Governor Malanyaon directed the Oplan Karsada management team to include those considered critical barangay roads leading to communities with large populations or essential routes for trade.
Governor Malanyaon stressed the urgency of road rehabilitation, noting that most barangays have prioritized road rehabilitation over other development projects as they volunteered to pour their provincial aid to cover the fuel requirements for road rehabilitation.
During the special meeting, Governor Malanyaon lauded the teams of operators for their hard work in the past month.
She also urged the managers and supervisors of the Oplan Karsada teams to inspire the operators to work hard to benefit the people in the hinterland who depend on good roads for their livelihood, especially now that the county is reeling from the economic depression brought by the pandemic.
The massive road rehabilitation, or the Oplan Karsada, is one of the anti-poverty programs of the provincial government supporting the agriculture and tourism sectors. This program is part of Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon’s commitment to farmers and residents to give them respite and ease their burden in transporting people to the town center and their crops to the market.
The Oplan Karsada management team is headed by OIC Provincial Engineer Gisica Sayman with OIC PGADH for Operations Engr. Jonathan Rodriguez and PGADH for Planning and Construction Technical Support Engr. Edgar Fernandez. By KLD
