Mati City, Davao Oriental — In the pursuit to provide improved healthcare services to the people, the provincial government of Davao Oriental has turned over new facilities, health-related equipment, and vehicles to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC).
On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Governor Dayanghirang led the series of turn-over ceremonies, noting that these upgrades are among his priorities to answering the needs of the people, especially marginalized patients in the province, who are in dire need of medical care and attention and whose health problems burden them in their daily lives. The Governor said that providing them with efficient, fast, accessible and comfortable health facilities is one of the greatest things his administration can offer.
A Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) which will also function as a multi-purpose facility to accommodate more patients was among those inaugurated. This TTMF was donated by the Department of Health (DOH) amounting to P10M fund with counterpart funds from the provincial government to ensure its completion.
Aside from these upgrades, the new Central Sterile Supply Room and Intensive Care Unit will soon operate along with the reopening of the private wing of the hospital to give proper care especially in accommodating private paying patients.
Among the turned-over hospital machines and other equipment funded by the provincial government were:
• Fluoroscopy Machine
• Mobile X-Rays
• Digital X-Ray
• Ultrasound
• Laparoscopy Machine
• Anesthesia Machine
Meanwhile, new Hospital Service Vehicles which include four (4) utility vehicles and one (1) commuter van were also blessed and turned over for the use of the hospital for fast and readily available health aid from the healthcare workers to the patients.
Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Reden Bersaldo said that through this we can open up and cater with more patients and other services that would less likely require them to be referred to other hospitals in the region due to the absence of the needed equipment and facilities.
“With this support, it is embedded into us to strive more and always do our best in providing people with their much-needed services,” Dr. Bersaldo added. By Mark Oliver Alvite
