The Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA) has committed to supporting Davao Oriental to boost its tourism industry this year 2023 by facilitating more infrastructure and groundwork development projects. This expression of support came following a substantive discussion between MINDA Director Joey Recimilla and Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon earlier today, January 24, 2023, at the Provincial Capitol.

MINDA is the Philippine Government agency that makes it possible for a wide range of sectors to actively and extensively participate in the socioeconomic development of Mindanao. During the meeting, MINDA Director Recimilla presented several action plans and measures the Provincial Government could take to speed up the funding of various developmental projects, particularly those intended to improve tourism, which is also one of the significant undertakings the agency strongly supports.

“This is a remarkable development for Davao Oriental Tourism,” Governor Malanyaon said, conveying her utter joy at the meeting. The governor has always been outspoken about her intention to boost the tourism industry in her jurisdiction, even identifying it as a critical initiative to reduce poverty in the province.

“I want the tourism industry in Davao Oriental to be full-blown before the year ends. Yes, we are aggressive in furthering our tourism development because we have what it takes,” expressed Governor Malanyaon with great conviction.

Meanwhile, Director Recimilla acknowledged his immense satisfaction with Governor Malanyaon’s developmental and growth-oriented mindset, particularly regarding her highly active involvement in the province’s tourism development. He emphasized how exciting it is to see Davao Oriental emerge as Region 11’s top tourism hub.

Under the direction of Governor Malanyaon, Davao Oriental is intensively promoting the development of more tourist destinations, particularly those focused on cultural tourism, eco-tourism, farm tourism, religious tourism, and sports tourism.

The Kaagan Heritage Museum in Banaybanay and the Mandaya Heritage Museum in Santiago, Caraga (Pusan Point), which will serve as the flagship project for the promotion of the two major ethnic groups in the province, are among the highlight tourism infrastructures expected to be built within the year.

Creating an Ecclesiastical Museum in Caraga, which will be housed at the Old Convent of San Salvador del Mundo Church, is another noteworthy tourism project. It will feature exhibits on the history of the spread of Christianity in Davao Region and display religious artifacts, relics, and other valuable accounts.

Other projects under the provincial tourism plan include the development of Mainit Hotspring in Barangay Mainit in Cateel, Diomaboc Lake Eco-Park in Manay, Kapuka, Ugwad Falls, and Magpamangaw in Caraga, and the construction of stairway and boardwalk at Cape San Agustin, Governor Generoso.

Various equally significant tourism development projects are now underway to guarantee consistent growth and support for the province’s tourism industry. This includes constructing tourism offices, lounges, and pasalubong centers, facilitating the building of various theme parks and botanical gardens, road concreting projects, acquiring an ancestral house for an LGU Museum, and construction of a world-class Convention Center.  ʙʏ κœ°Κ€α΄€Ι΄α΄„Ιͺꜱ α΄Šα΄€Κ Κ™α΄œα΄›α΄œΚŸα΄€Ι΄ | α΄˜Κœα΄α΄›α΄κœ± ʙʏ ᴍᴀʀᴋ ᴏʟΙͺᴠᴇʀ α΄€ΚŸα΄ Ιͺᴛᴇ
