The Kagan Café at the Davao Oriental Welcome Park in Pintatagan, Banaybanay town, is officially open and ready to serve its guests.

A perfect stop-over to chill and relax during long trips, the newly opened café serves refreshments and traditional Kagan (also called Kalagan) food. The café also offers its specialty – its signature brewed coffee with a fusion of local Arabica coffee and corn, which was roasted and brewed in the Kagan traditional method and served with pancake or pita bread.

The café, which can accommodate 32-44 customers at a time, is embellished with Kagan-inspired décor and designs. It is also adorned with Kagan symbols and colors of the “People of The First Light.” These colors include red as a symbol of bravery and readiness to defend the homeland; green that attributes to the Islam Religion’s way of life; yellow as a way of showing its stand for royalty and natural existence being natives of the place and belonging to the Tribe-Indigenous People; and blue which represents the tribe’s love and harmony with the bounties of nature and resiliency in calamities.

Officially opened on Saturday, December 3, during its soft opening, the cafe will be open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday-Sunday.

The café management also announced that more dishes, including breakfast meals, will soon be included in the menu during its grand opening in February next year, in time to launch the province’s grand tourism caravan.

The opening of the Kagan Café is part of the provincial government’s efforts, under Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, to establish tourist destinations all over the province that will showcase Davao Oriental’s rich culture, natural wonders, and warm hospitality.

Present during the soft opening were Provincial Administrator Ma. Gracia Tiago, Provincial Treasurer Engr. Ma. Victoria Rodriguez, NCIP XI Regional Director Mumar Mamukid, Provincial Tourism OIC Lyrna Palma, Café owner Mr. Amir Alamis, Banaybanay Kagan officials, and other visitors. ʙʏ ᴍᴀʀᴋ ᴏʟɪᴠᴇʀ ᴀʟᴠɪᴛᴇ
