Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr., made a resounding call to action to elevate sports development programs in the province. In the recent Provincial Local School Board (PLSB) meeting held on Monday, April 8, at the Provincial Capitol, Governor Uy emphasized the imperative of fortifying collaborations and pooling resources to bolster local athletic talents.
“We have to improve the Sports Development Programs in our Province. Kinahanglan nato nga i-strengthen pa ang collaborations, including our resources to support our talents. Dapat clear ang direction. We should harmonize our direction to enhance our Sports Development Programs further. We also need the support of Local Government Units (LGUs) and other stakeholders,” Gov. stressed during the Provincial Local School Board (PLSB) meeting on Monday, April 8, at the Provincial Capitol.
The Governor firmly believes that fostering collaborations opens doors to invaluable coaching experiences, access to top-notch training facilities, and the provision of essential equipment. This approach is fundamental to nurturing the burgeoning talents within our province.
In a bid to cultivate a vibrant sports community, Governor Uy is committed to empowering both existing and newly established local sports clubs catering to diverse interests and age groups. His vision extends beyond mere athleticism; it encompasses the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the cultivation of talent to foster a robust sports ecosystem.
“We need to strengthen Sports Clubs across Davao Oriental. Tagaan nato ug pansin, suportahan, and organize sports activities to increase the love for sports in the province. We have to provide comprehensive support to expand our sports programs and activities. Focus, consistency, and whole-year-round training will make a big difference for our athletes.”
This strategic initiative of the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental aims to provide greater support and resources to athletes, coaches, and sports clubs across the province. By partnering with important stakeholders such as local sports organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders, the Provincial Government seeks to create a more vigorous and sustainable sports community in Davao Oriental.
Another highlight of the Provincial Local School Board (PLSB) meeting is the inclusion of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Davao Oriental and the Provincial Sports and Youth Development Office (PSYDO) as members of the Provincial Local School Board, which has been duly approved by all the members of the Local School Board. Through the integration of sports activities and technical skill training into the academic context, this collaboration seeks to provide a more comprehensive approach to youth development.
