Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang, who initiated the programs, led the distribution of assistance with the proper facilitation of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by the PESO Manager Jay Dayanghirang.

The NLD-Livelihood Assistance and Reintegration Program gives priorities to the people in Davao Oriental who are in dire need especially the repatriated OFWs who lost their jobs abroad due to certain conflicts and distress caused by the pandemic.

Further, the assistance aims to support the Lumads in starting their small business amid the pandemic to help suffice their daily needs and help improve their lives. The beneficiaries were chosen by the PESO Managers with the approval of Local Chief Executives (LCEs) wherein there are 10 beneficiaries in every LGU — 8 of these are under the NLD-LAP while the remaining 2 are under the Reintegration Program.

Other beneficiaries are being recommended by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) who need to be reached out for their difficult situations.

After the distribution of assistance, the beneficiaries will be monitored by PESO in every Local Government Unit (LGU) to ensure that the assistance has helped their family attain a better state in life in their entrepreneurship journey.
