The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the security sector in Davao Oriental are aggressively preparing to ensure an orderly and peaceful National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025.
During today’s first-quarter Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on March 14, 2025, Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Emelie Camaganacan highlighted the proactive measures COMELEC has been implementing since last year to strengthen election readiness.

Key initiatives include a roadshow and demonstration of the Automated Counting Machine, the Electoral Board and Board of Canvassers training, and the Provincial Joint Security Control Center Convening and Coordinating Conference. Additionally, COMELEC has launched checkpoints across the province and other strategic measures to uphold electoral integrity.
While election preparations are underway, security measures are also being reinforced to protect all voters and residents in the province. 701st Brigade Commander Brigadier General Allan Jose Taguba and Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) Provincial Director Police Colonel Julius Silagan have committed their full support to ensure peace and security during the elections.

According to the latest COMELEC data, Davao Oriental has 433,645 registered voters. These voters will cast their ballots in 2,783 precincts within 555 clustered precincts and 245 voting centers across 183 barangays in the province.
The election period has been in effect nationwide since January 22, while the official local campaign period is set to begin on March 28.
