With her vitality at its peak, Department of the Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga expressed her profound gratitude for another blessing that just came in her way – her recently confirmed promotion as an Assistant Regional Director.

While she did not yet disclose her next area of assignment, Sunga stressed that her stint in Davao Oriental for six years is one for the books, one that she will always bring with her wherever she goes.

“I love Davao Oriental. This might be an understatement, but I really do. The province is so easy to mentor, very attentive to suggestions and recommendations. I did not have a hard time at all in explaining to them the different programs of the agency. And the leadership, way back in the Malanyaon administration, and now the Dayanghirang incumbency, had and has been very supportive.

“We could not have gone this far, particularly in our program and project implementation if not for the strong support of our leaders. We, at the DILG Provincial Office is just very fortunate on this. We always boast of our convergence of efforts,” she added.

She also lauded all the stakeholders of the Province of Davao Oriental for their support and active participation in pushing for good governance. “I cannot be prouder to be assigned in a province, a Champion Province for that matter, because I felt so loved, I felt so respected. I felt the support, the engagement of each and every one because we will not be successful if one office, department, or LGU will not be participative,” she said.

Sunga reminded the province she has known to love to continue their efforts for development. “Patuloy po sa magandang gawain at huwag po natin kalimutang maging matino, maging mahusay at maasahan at all times. Let us be true to our mandate. Let us be one to really ensure that there is just and lasting peace and sustainable development not only for the province but for the whole country. Mahal ko po ang Davao Oriental.” Sunga was instrumental in the two prestigious awards the province received from the DILG years back. These are the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi Award during the governance of now First District Rep. Cora Malanyaon, and the Seal of Good Local Governance two years ago.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang is equally grateful to the incoming ARD for really making Davao Oriental shine in good local governance.
