Davao Oriental’s tireless push to strengthen its healthcare system has paid off. On May 6, 2025, seven brand-new Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) were officially turned over to seven Local Government Units (LGUs) during a ceremonial event held at the Capitol Covered Court.
Spearheading the ceremony was Governor Niño Uy, joined by mayors and LGU representatives, as well as PCSO Board of Director Imelda Papin, who personally led the formal turnover on behalf of the agency.

The first batch of recipients includes Mati City and the municipalities of Baganga, Banaybanay, Cateel, Caraga, Lupon, and Tarragona. More LGUs are expected to receive their units once they complete the required documentation—bringing the total number of target beneficiaries under this initiative to eleven LGUs across the province.
A Partnership Rooted in Persistence
The initiative is the result of Governor Uy’s relentless efforts in lobbying the national government, with vital support from PCSO Davao Oriental Branch Head John Sison, to address the growing demand for medical transport in the province.

“It won’t be long before we achieve truly inclusive and accessible healthcare for all,” Governor Uy declared. “Even with limited resources, we will never stop finding ways to expand our services—especially in the health sector.”
Gratitude and Unity
The governor expressed his deep appreciation to the PCSO for their continued support.
“We sincerely thank the National Government, through the PCSO, for making this possible. This will greatly benefit many Oriental Dabawenyos. On their behalf—daghang salamat,” Uy said.
He also extended his personal thanks to PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, who he directly appealed to for the additional PTVs.

PCSO Board Director Imelda Papin also shared her gratitude for the warm welcome the program received in Davao Oriental. She emphasized that the ambulance donation is part of the PCSO’s Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program, which aims to bolster emergency response services—especially in remote areas.
Fully Equipped for Life-Saving Missions
Each new ambulance is outfitted with complete medical equipment, including a stretcher, oxygen tank, blood pressure monitor, ambu bag, medicine cabinet, and wheelchair—ensuring quick, efficient, and safe patient transport.

This marks a major milestone for Davao Oriental—a symbol of a province that is more prepared, more efficient, and more compassionate in serving its people.
