More than 5,000 residents from 18 barangays in the municipality of Baganga benefitted from a three-day medical-dental mission organized by the Provincial Government and the Local Government of Baganga. The mission aimed to provide essential medical interventions, especially for those who are financially struggling.

Today, October 20, children, parents, and senior citizens from the barangays of Batawan, Binondo, Mahan-ub, Lucod, Batiano, and Central expressed their gratitude and joy. Thousands received free government services, including medical check-ups, free medicines, tooth extractions, haircuts, and even school supplies for local schools.

Edna Gambong Cagutom, a resident of Purok Malinaw in Barangay Batiano and a mother suffering from a cough and body aches for three weeks, was unable to seek medical help due to financial constraints. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to Governor Niño Uy and Baganga Mayor Ronald Lara for their combined efforts to bring these essential services to their community. She was able to avail of a free check-up and medication that would help her recover. Edna is just one of the many residents grateful for the government’s medical intervention, hoping for more health programs under the leadership of Gov. Uy to help more people.

Gov. Uy, a strong advocate for sustainable healthcare in the province, delivered a message to the people, ensuring that health programs will continue to serve the entire province of Davao Oriental.

“Our cooperation with the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province will not stop, as our government will continue to bring these programs closer to the people, especially our health action programs that offer free medical services to our fellow citizens. This is just one of many interventions we aim to implement to improve the quality of life for everyone,” Gov. Uy said.

The governor also pledged to continue the programs initiated by the late Gov. Corazon Malanyaon, who served as his inspiration, noting her unwavering dedication to sustainable healthcare.

In recognition of the success of the mission, Gov. Uy and Mayor Lara extended their heartfelt gratitude to the medical doctors, dentists, nurses, barangay health workers led by Provincial Capitol Clinic Head Dr. Ariel dela Cruz, the military, police, and barangay employees for maintaining peace and order. They also thanked various government agencies and private companies for their vital support in ensuring the initiative’s success.

The three-day public service was supported by Board Members Nennette Palmera, Michelle Centeno, Louie Malanyaon, Sunberry Homes, Inc. Founder/CEO Beverly Dayanan, Former Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Maria Lady Hope Macayra, Jo Ann Mariano, Baganga Vice Mayor Modesto Layupan, Municipal Councilors, barangay captains, and councilors who are also committed to promoting sustainable healthcare.
