Operation Smile Philippines, a non-profit organization that provides free surgeries to children with cleft lip and cleft palate, has brought smiles to 24 individuals, mostly children, in a recent surgical mission.
The mission, which was a collaborative effort led by Operation Smile Philippines, in partnership with the Provincial Health Office and Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center, was a life-changing project to 24 beneficiaries in Davao Oriental.
Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, Provincial Health Officer II and concurrent Chief of Hospital, said this initiative aimed to provide essential medical care and hope to those in need.
Living with cleft lips and palates, the 24 beneficiaries faced not only physical challenges but also the emotional and social hurdles associated with their condition. The surgeries performed during this mission offered them a chance at a normal life, free from the hardships they had endured for years.
The parents of the children expressed their gratitude for the life-changing surgeries that will improve the quality of life of their children.
The success of the mission relied heavily on the assistance and collaboration of different institutions and groups, such as the 66th Infantry Battalion and Agila Shriners – Mt. Hamiguitan Chapter.
The mission’s successful execution was also attributed to the leadership of Governor Nino Sotero L. Uy, Jr. His guidance and support played a crucial role in the province’s efforts to accomplish this noble cause, showcasing the province’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its constituents.
This joint effort highlighted the impact that collaboration between organizations and local authorities can have in addressing critical healthcare needs, especially in underserved communities.
Dr. Bersaldo expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and the chance to make a difference in the lives of those in need. He stated, “This mission underscores the power of collective action.
