Intending to expand medical assistance to indigent patients in Davao Oriental, Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr. has partnered and officially welcomed a substantial P10-Million fund from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Government through the Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government (AMBaG) program initiated by the Office of the Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Balawag Ebrahim.

The said collaboration is also made possible by the facilitation of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front thru its Chairperson, Mr. Roy Lopez.

The BARMM Government has identified Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) as one of its strategic partners to receive the funding from its AMBaG Program which is intended to primarily help the indigent and poor patients in settling their hospital bills and accessing the needed medical procedures and services.

As part of BARMM initiative, AMBaG has established partnerships with 22 hospitals across the country. Since its inception in late 2019, the program has successfully provided assistance to over 13,000 beneficiaries. Emphasizing inclusivity, Deputy Program Manager Saharan Jurjani Silongan highlighted that medical aid is extended to both Muslim and Non-Muslim patients.

Expressing his profound gratitude for the medical assistance, Governor Uy pronounced how it would help a lot of patients in the province and its potential to significantly impact the lives of patients in desperate need of healthcare support. With this substantial funding, it can help cover medical needs especially those who may not be covered by the government’s Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) Program.

“Thank you so much for this assistance. This would surely aid us in our efforts to sustain the medical needs of a number of patients here in Davao Oriental who need help with their medical concerns,” the Governor conveyed during his meeting with AMBaG representatives. Governor Uy also underscored to sustain the partnership between BARMM and Davao Oriental for future endeavors, ensuring a continued commitment to improving the lives of the people of Davao Oriental.
