On the sidelines of his attendance at the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI’s 4th Quarter 2023 Meeting held in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, newly-appointed RDC XI Chairperson Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr. scored another significant deal that will be extremely beneficial to the people of Davao Oriental as he led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the RDC XI for the implementation of several livelihood projects across the province. These projects are funded under the Energy Regulations (ER) No. 1-94 Program issued by the Department of Energy, as per Department Circular (DC) Nos. 2018-08-0021 and its Supplemental Policy Issuances.

A total of 9 approved projects for Davao Oriental will be funded under the region’s share of the ER 1-94 Development and Livelihood Fund (DLF) from the Aboitiz Power Subsidiaries. The implementation of these projects is bounded by the provisions outlined in the MOA for the beneficiaries, who are primarily farmers and members of various cooperatives.

Among the evaluated and confirmed projects that qualified for funding under DOE ER 1-94 policy guidelines include the Food Production and Processing Project, Cultivation of Financial Literacy: Empowering Farmers for Sustainable Prosperity, Lamiay na Buco Pie Davao Oriental, Choco Ku-Kay-Oh: Chocolate Production in the Cacao-Rich Province of Davao Oriental Series 1 and 2, Backyard Swine Raising, Handicraft Project: Romblon, Fossilized Cacao Leaves and Abaca Scrunch, Tara! Buko Pie Ta!, and Procurement of Diesel Fishing Engine Project.

Governor Uy conveyed his sincere appreciation to RDC XI for approving each of the nine development projects that the Provincial Government had submitted. He highlighted how the projects will help the province financially in these trying times and free up PLGU resources to concentrate on development initiatives that will benefit numerous individuals and communities.

“I cannot express my gratitude for this availment strongly enough. Rest assured that we will put to good use what has been accorded to us. All these and more give us so much reason to be upbeat about our future in the coming years as we continue to ensure the sustainability of all forms of development. It is our ultimate aim to improve the lives of our people while anchored on the vision and mission of the province,” Governor Uy remarked.

It is worth noting that this is the first and only time that the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, under the wisdom and direction of Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr., was able to avail of the said grant from the Department of Energy and was given priority among all the provinces in the Davao Region. 𝗕𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻
