As part of the 57th Founding Anniversary of Davao Oriental and the 1st Kabilin Festival, the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental successfully organized the first Drag Lip Sync Competition in the province that brought together the talents of drag queens from all over Mindanao yesterday, June 27, at the Capitol Grounds Provincial Capitol, City of Mati.
The event highlighted the great talent and passion for the arts of the LGBTQIA+ community in Davao Oriental and was attended by enthusiastic Oriental Davaoeños. Carcallas Tagalog Ruben, also known as “Drag Queen Elektra,” hailed the champion who brought home P20,000 in cash, while Frich Lopez, also known as “Drag Queen DD Ursula,” was awarded as the first runner-up who brought home P15,000 in cash, and Aeron Ros, also known as “Drag Queen Erusalia,” was awarded as the second runner-up who brought home P10,000 in cash.
The competition featured a dazzling performance, with contestants delivering jaw-dropping lip sync routines that thrilled and entertained the audience. From the stunning costumes to the impeccable choreography, each contestant brought their unique style and flair to the stage, creating a night to remember.
The event serves as a testament of Governor Niño Uy’s commitment to embrace and celebrate the rich tapestry of talent and creativity within its borders, not only serves as a platform for artistic expression but also promotes inclusivity, acceptance, and unity within the community.
