Governor Uy Vows To Boost Employment Opportunities at First Regional PESO Congress

Davao Oriental Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr. passionately reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the provincial government and regional entities to elevate PESO programs during the First Regional Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress on November 30, 2023, at the beautiful Mati City, Davao Oriental, marking a significant step toward a brighter future for the community.

The event, hosted by the province of Davao Oriental in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment Davao Oriental through PESO Davao Oriental and the PESO Managers Association of the Philippines (PESO MAP), hopes to inspire and create meaningful employment opportunities in the region by bringing together participants from across Region XI.

“Our commitment extends mere words, it is reflected in the continuous capacity development programs initiated by our government. We are dedicated to equipping our workforce with the skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape. Together, we’ll create an environment that nurtures innovation and empowers individuals to reach their full potential,” Governor Uy emphasized in his message.

The Governor’s vision is rooted in the belief that collective efforts can create an environment fostering innovation and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. This forward-thinking approach aligns with the theme of the event, ‘Riding the Wave of Opportunities: Transforming PESO through Advanced Functions, Structural Innovation, and Holistic Career Support Programs.’

“The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, along with all the government units in the entire region, stands firm in its commitment to support PESO programs and initiatives aimed at catalyzing employment opportunities,” he pledged.
Under Governor Uy’s leadership, the provincial government recognizes that employment initiatives play a pivotal role not only in addressing the immediate need for jobs but also in the long-term development of the region. The governor’s commitment extends to programs and initiatives that not only focus on job creation but also the improvement and enhancement of the quality of life for the people of Davao Oriental and the entire Region XI.

Furthermore, Governor Uy highlighted the inclusivity of their efforts by acknowledging the importance of regional collaboration. The event saw the participation of employees from the Department of Labor and Employment and PESO provinces across Region XI, namely Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Davao City. This collaborative spirit underscores the shared commitment to advancing the employment landscape throughout the entire region.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO) under the leadership of Mr. Restie Aguilon emerged triumphant at the event, earning several accolades including Outstanding Performance recognitions for the Implementation of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Job Fair, and Career Guidance. Notably, their exemplary efforts led to a nomination for the prestigious title of Best PESO 1st Class Province, adding a commendable achievement that brings glory to the province. This recognition further solidifies Davao Oriental’s position as a frontrunner in progressive employment practices and underscores the collective dedication to transformative initiatives in the region.

The legacy of the late beloved Governor Corazon Malanyaon lives on through the dedication to quality and community welfare embodied by PESO Davao Oriental. As PESO Davao Oriental evolves into a regular department, it is prepared to carry on the late Governor Malanyaon’s admirable goal of giving people of Davao Oriental a better future by means of sustainable employment skills and development.

The 1st Regional PESO Congress serves as an important event in the region’s commitment to creating a future where opportunities are not only identified but maximized for the benefit of all. Under the governor’s stewardship, Davao Oriental stands poised to become a beacon of progressive employment practices and sustainable community development in the heart of Mindanao.
