In a historic collaboration aimed at fostering quality technical education and nurturing work value among the youth and skilled professionals, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental and the Private TVI Association of Davao Oriental Inc. (PTVIADO, INC) orchestrated the widely-participated 2023 Provincial Skills Competition, on November 9, at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court, Mati City.
This year’s edition, hailed as the biggest and most inclusive to date, garnered the participation of various public and private Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs), higher education institutions including Davao Oriental State University (DORSU), as well as the Department of Educationโs (DepEd) Junior and Senior High Schools with Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) Track. The participants showcased their abilities in 19 distinct skill areas, which include automotive, bakery, beauty therapy, cabinet making, carpentry, cooking, electrical installation, fashion technology, graphic design technology, hotel reception, information network cabling, patisserie and confectionery, plumbing and heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning, restaurant services, welding, hairdressing, floristry, and IT software solutions for business.
Governor Niรฑo Sotero L. Uy, Jr., lauded the efforts of TESDA Davao Oriental Provincial Office for organizing an outstanding program that will surely leave a lasting positive impact among the young people and constituents of Davao Oriental. In expressing his admiration, Governor Uy emphasized the event’s great potential to stimulate interest in technical vocational education, ultimately contributing to the overall progress of the province.
