Gov Turns Over P1.3 Million Funds for Brigada Eskwela, Approves Communication Allowance to all Private and Public Teachers in Davao Oriental for World Teacher’s Day

Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr. demonstrated his unwavering commitment to providing quality education in the province as he turned over funds amounting to P1,340,000 as financial support for Brigada Eskwela to the DepEd Schools Division of Davao Oriental.

The said funds are intended for the maintenance, minor repairs, and improvements in schools, set to benefit 328 schools across the province to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for students and teachers.

The turn-over was held in time for the Local School Board (LSB) meeting held yesterday, September 14, at the Provincial Capitol.

Governor Uy, who is also the LSB Chair, has put quality education as one of his top priorities under his administration.

During the meeting, Governor Uy highlighted the significance of enhancing educational standards to secure a brighter future for the students. Additionally, he also stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare of teachers who play a crucial role in shaping the minds of young learners.

Governor Uy expressed his sincere appreciation and admiration for the dedication and invaluable contributions of the province’s hardworking teachers. In recognition of their hard work, he issued a resolution approving the provision of communication allowances for both public and private school teachers serving under the province of Davao Oriental. The allowance will be given during the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, which is an internationally recognized event held every year on October 5th. This year, the beautiful municipality of Banaybanay will host the celebration.

The cash assistance for all teachers is for communication expenses such as, but not limited to, landline phone for communication, load (call, text, and data) for mobile phone communication, and Wi-Fi connection as a gesture of appreciation from the governor.

With a dedication to excellence, the governor highlighted the importance of setting a clear and ambitious vision for the development of education in Davao Oriental. The discussion during the monthly Local School Board revolved around the preparation of World Teachers’ Day, Sports Development, Career Guidance Fair, Contract of Para teachers and Watchmen and the School Learning Materials. By tackling these relevant matters head-on, the LSB aimed to create an environment that holistically strengthens the goal of education.

The Local School Board consists of the top officials of the Department of Education (DepEd)- Schools Division of Davao Oriental, led by the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Josephine L. Fadul along with the presence of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Education Chairman Board Member Harold A. Montes, the Provincial Treasurer Engr. Ma. Victoria G.
