For upholding quality healthcare for the constituents of Davao Oriental, the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) has been recognized as one of the Top 15 Level Two Hospitals in the Philippines in the Department of Health (DOH) Hospital Star Awards 2022.
Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, MHcA, DOPMC’s Chief of Hospital and Provincial Health Officer II, recently received the award at Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark, Mactan, Cebu.
DOH Hospital Star Awards recognizes the best government hospitals all over the country by acknowledging their efforts in sustaining high standards in health service delivery towards achieving universal health care and enhancing compliance with regulatory requirements.
DOPMC was categorized under Level 2 hospitals and is the only Level 2 hospital in the Davao Region to be given this recognition. The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) also received the award under the top Level 3 hospitals category.
According to Dr. Bersaldo, this accolade, the first since the hospital’s establishment, is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of the men and women of DOMPC who worked so hard, especially during the height of the CoViD-19 pandemic. He also recognized the efforts of the different department heads, management committees, and local leaders.
He expressed his gratitude to Davao Oriental Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon for the administration’s support of the hospital’s operation. In fact, Governor Malanyaon initiated the massive expansion of the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center way back in 2011.
“To Governor Malanyaon, thank you for being the province’s prime mover of innovative health care. Then and now, you have shown support and care to the healthcare sector. You have made DOPMC what it is now and we will continue to forge partnerships as we do service with a heart,” Dr. Bersaldo said.
DOPMC vows to strengthen its service to patients further and continually improve systems, patient safety and clinical outcomes.
