For garnering a perfect score in the Anti-Drug Council Functionality Audit and Awarding Assessment for 2021, the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council of Davao Oriental received the 2022 National Anti-drug Abuse Council Performance Award.

PADAC Action Officer Brig. Gen. Leopoldo Imbang, Jr. (Ret.), who represented Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, received the accolade during the National ADAC Performance Awards held in Manila on December 13, 2022.

Given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the award is given to Local Government Units with effective and efficient performance in terms of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs of the national government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Aside from innovative anti-drug abuse programs, the audit criteria include the organization of local ADAC, the conduct of ADAC meetings, allocation of funds for anti-illegal drug activities, formulation and implementation of ADAC plans and programs, and supervision and support to component ADACs.

It also assesses the ADAC functionality in the barangays, the sustainability of Drug-Cleared or Drug-Free Status, and the reduction of drug affectation.

To date, out of the 183 barangays in the province, 168 were declared drug-cleared barangays, while five were declared drug-free.

Davao Oriental also has the only provincial government-run Balay Silangan Reformation Center for drug reformists in Davao Region. Since its establishment in 2019,  the facility has already produced 229 outpatient graduates and 19 inpatient graduates.

LGUs in the province that also received the same accolade were the City of Mati and the municipalities of Lupon and Boston.
