In a bid to support the local farming community, the provincial government of Davao Oriental has distributed P4.1 million worth of agriculture support to farmers in the province.

The aid was given to 815 farmers in the province’s various towns. The distribution was made possible through the efforts of the Provincial Agriculture Office through the Improved Pagkain at Kita (IMPAK) Program.

The support package included a range of essential farming inputs, such as vegetable seeds, hybrid white corn, tilapia fingerlings, herbicides, and fertilizers. Additionally, the farmers were also given farm implements, such as garden bolo, plastic water sprinklers, and mono nylon line to help them increase their productivity and efficiency.

The distribution of the support package was well-received by the farming community, who have been struggling with low yields and rising input costs. Many of the farmers expressed their gratitude to the provincial government for its efforts to support the local agriculture industry.

Board Member Stephen Paul “Popong” Uy, who represented Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy, Jr., said during the turnover ceremony that the distribution of agriculture support interventions for farmers is a crucial aspect of promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and the community in achieving sustainable agricultural growth and development.

The provincial government’s initiative is expected to benefit not only the farmers but also the entire province, as it aims to increase agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of the farming community.

A program initiated by the late Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon and continued by the current administration of Gov. Uy, IMPAK ensures that farmers have access to interventions from the government and development partners to improve food security, reduce poverty, and enhance the livelihoods of rural communities.
