Families Affected by TS Crising Receive Relief Goods

DAVAO ORIENTAL —  A week after Tropical Storm Crising brought heavy flooding and rains in the province, the provincial government distributed relief goods to the families affected.

A total of 1,879 identified families in the municipalies of Caraga, Baganga and Cateel who were affected  have received relief goods during the two-day distribution of relief goods held on May 20-21 which was facilitated by the the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

Most of these families were fisherfolks residing near coastal areas who relied solely on fishing boats for their livelihood.

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang expressed his empathy to the families affected, as he stressed the importance of the government’s immediate action for those in need.

The distribution per barangay and the respective number of affected  households are as follows:

Municipality of Baganga with a total of 1,812 identified affected households:

  • Barangay Baculin – 220 households
  • Barangay Ban-ao – 120 households
  • Barangay Bobonao – 90 households
  • Barangay Central – 169 households
  • Barangay Dapnan – 109 households
  • Barangay Kinablangan –  223 households
  • Barangay Lambajon – 164 households
  • Barangay Lucod – 280 households
  • Barangay Salingcomot – 27 households
  • Barangay San Victor – 160 households
  • Barangay Saoquigue – 250 households

Municipality of Caraga with a total of 64 identified affected households:

  • Barangay Manorigao – 21 households
  • Barangay San Luis – 43 households

Municipality of Cateel with a total of 3  identified affected households:

  • Barangay San Vicente: 3 households

Barangay Kagawad Eduardo Caastro Brgy. Baculin in Baganga  expressed his utmost gratitude to the provincial government for its assistance “which somehow placed a smile on the peoples’ faces.”

Meanwhile, two days after the TS Crising, the provincial government has immediately provided relief goods to a total of 723 identified affected families in Barangay Matiao  and Barangay  Don Enrique Lopez.

Aside from those affected by TS Crising, 8 families from Barangay Mainit in the municipality of Cateel who were affected by a recent fire incident and 125 families from Barangay PM Sobrecarey in the municipality of Caraga who were affected by yellow warning rainfall’s flooding were also given relief goods.  By Mark Alvite
