In pursuit to strengthen the government’s anti-poverty programs, top officials of national government agencies in the Davao Region officially launched and formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the government’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program on December 6, 2021 at the Honey’s Hotel in the City of Mati.

Among the core objectives of the Partnership Program is to (1) increase farm productivity and income, (2) ensure food and nutrition security, and (3) to mitigate hunger and malnutrition in the urban and rural communities.

Davao Oriental Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang has warmly welcomed the agencies’ regional directors and representatives as he is delighted to witness ‘history’ on the first-ever regional signing of MOU held in the province.

Focal Person and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) OIC Regional Director Ronald Ryan R. Cui led the launching ceremony as he expresses that DSWD, with a mandate to improve everyone’s lives, has a role in EPAHP program to become a ‘link’ that connects partner agencies to ensure that the beneficiaries reach the different prescribed programs.

Regional Director Cui also commended the provincial government of Davao Oriental’s programs complementing the EPAHP as he nodded the different agencies to choose Davao Oriental as an appropriate location for the program’s launching and signing of MOU.

Governor Dayanghirang has also noted that in the provincial level, various programs have already been implemented to answer the needs of the marginalized sectors through the Nagkakaisang Lingkod Bayang ng Davao Oriental – Barangay Outreach Caravan (NLD-BOC) to bring multi-stakeholder and different agencies’ services in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
