In his State of the Children’s Address, Governor Uy stressed the importance of ensuring children’s rights to opportunities and development. “As a Child-Friendly Province, we implement policies, programs, and initiatives to promote and protect the rights of our children, ensuring each child in our communities has access to better opportunities for growth and development,” he said.
Efforts Toward Progress and Protection
The governor also highlighted key initiatives since his leadership began in 2023, in partnership with Local Government Units (LGUs) and provincial agencies. These initiatives focus on:
- Children’s rights to development, governmental assistance, and expression.
- Access to quality education.
- Ensuring survival and holistic development.
- Accessibility of health services for children.
A Call for Unity and Dedication
Governor Uy reminded parents, community leaders, and stakeholders of their shared responsibility in building a brighter future for children. “Let us work together for our children. Together, we can ensure not just the protection of their rights but also the nurturing of their potential and the security of their future,” he urged.
The event’s success was made possible through the efforts and coordination of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), led by Department Head Juvy Bonita. With unwavering dedication, Davao Oriental continues to foster a safe and empowering environment for its children.
