Newly appointed Regional Development Council (RDC) Chairperson Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon shares the region’s optimism in achieving inclusive economic transformation that would accelerate poverty reduction among Davaoeños over the next six years.
In her opening message as RDC Chair during the Multi-Stakeholder Consultation and Consistency Checking of Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) 2023-2028 on Thursday, November 17, in Davao City, Governor Malanyaon expressed her confidence in the region’s vision for economic progress.
Through sound strategic planning via the DRDP, she said Davao Region can readily achieve its goals. She believes the strategies incorporated in the plan would help usher Davao Region towards genuine progress.
Governor Malanyaon underscored the importance of the plan, which serves as the guidepost for all socio-economic development initiatives in the Davao Region for the next six years. The DRDP cuts across all regional sectors and interest groups as a comprehensive socio-economic development blueprint for Davao Region.
She also stressed the need to conduct appropriate consultation to ensure the alignment of the Davao Regional Development Plan 2023-2028 and evaluate its responsiveness and consistency with the development initiatives of Local Government Units in the Davao Region.
She continued by commending all the key actors in the region for taking the time to validate the plan. Thursday’s event was the final round of consultations on the draft medium-term DRDP for 2023-2028.
Gov. Malanyaon emphasized the need for all stakeholders to concur and validate the specific strategies, targets, programs, and projects identified in the plan, which is aligned with the priorities of the Marcos administration. More importantly, to evaluate the responsiveness and consistency of the DRDP with the development initiatives of the Local Government Units in Davao Region.
During the event, Governor Malanyaon happily announced that plan is set to be completed within the year of the assumption of the new administration.
“I am also truly honored to be placed at the helm of the RDC XI during the pivotal period in the development narratives of Region XI, with the relaunching of Davao Region as a tourism and investment-ready destination, following the declaration of the region as insurgency-free – a feat that was 50 long years in the making.”
Also present during the consultation were RDC Co-Chairperson and Private Sector Representative for Energy and ICT Sector, Mr. Art Milan, the Vice Chairperson, and NEDA XI Regional Director Ma.
